Stealing Lives. In this episode we speak with Professor Joan Reid about her work on human trafficking, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and risk profiles.
Joan is an Associate Professor of Criminology at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and the Director of the USF Human Trafficking Risk to Resilience Research Lab located on the St. Petersburg campus. She received her PhD in Criminology from University of South Florida – Tampa, FL. Her research interests include human trafficking, exposure to violence, child maltreatment, and trauma-informed care. Dr. Reid is also a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), and has counseled individuals recovering from sexual trauma, including youth in foster care and detained in juvenile justice facilities, for over fifteen years.
