Episode 49. Privatization of Corrections with Andrea Montes

Prison as a business venture? In this episode we speak with Professor Andrea Montes about her work on the privatization of prisons and corrections more broadly.

Andrea received her PhD from Florida State University and she is currently an assistant professor at Arizona State University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Associate Director for the Center for Public Criminology. Her work has appeared in several journals including Justice Quarterly, Crime & Delinquency, Criminology & Public Policy, and Criminal Justice and Behavior. Much of her work centers on theories of crime and punishment, crime prevention and school safety, and the privatization of corrections.
