Do you wish you knew more people? We got you! In this episode we speak with Graduate Students Vivian Aranda-Hughes and Alex Nur, as well as Professor Kristin Lloyd about the experience of conferencing and networking at a graduate student.
Vivian Aranda-Hughes is a doctoral candidate at Florida State University’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Sociology. Her research interests include victimization and offending over the life course, corrections, mental health, and family violence. She has published in Social Problems, Criminal Justice and Behavior, Feminist Criminology, and Crime & Delinquency, among others. As of Fall 2022, Vivian is an assistant professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs.
Dr. Kristin Lloyd is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Georgia Southern University. She received her PhD from Florida State University in 2021. Her research focuses on victimization, life-course criminology, and family influences on crime. Her work has been published in Journal of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology, Journal of School Violence, and Journal of Contemporary Criminal Justice.
Alexandra Nur graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Law & Society, and Psychology & Social Behavior, and holds a master’s in Criminology from Penn State. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Penn State’s Criminology program. Her research interests focus on corrections with an emphasis on prison program completion and misconduct, and on incarceration as a barrier to human capital accumulation. As of Fall 2022, Alex is an assistant professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
