This week Jose and Jenn from The Criminology Academy speak with Professor James Densley about his work on international gangs, gangs and the internet, and mass violence.
James is Professor and Department Chair of Criminal Justice at Metropolitan State University, part of the Minnesota State system. He is also co-founder of The Violence Project research center, best known for its database of mass shooters. Densley has received global media attention for his work on street gangs, criminal networks, violence, and policing. He is the author of six books, including the award-winning, How Gangs Work, 45 peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific journals, such as The British Journal of Criminology, Justice Quarterly, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, and Crime & Delinquency, and 70 book chapters, essays, and other works in outlets such as CNN, LA Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.
