Episode 8. Social Schematic Theory and New Directions for Criminology – Callie Burt

Bonus Episode! In this episode we speak with Professor Callie Burt about her theory, social schematic theory, as well as her work on race/ethnicity, and future directions she believes the discipline should take moving forward.

Callie is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Georgia State University and the Center for Research on Interpersonal Violence. Her primary research interest is in developmental and life-course sociology and criminology. Callie’s research focuses on explaining the psychosocial mechanisms through which social inequalities influence social behaviors, with an emphasis on understanding racial disparities. Callie has been published in journals such as Criminology, Social Forces, Justice Quarterly, and Social Problems. She won the American Society of Criminology’s Ruth Shonle Cavan Young Scholar Award in 2014.
